Sick of being Sensitive?

stop saying you’re sensitive

& start saying you’re attuned.

words matter, friends! & by calling ourselves sensitive, instead of attuned ~ we may be doing ourselves a disservice by leaving ourselves more vulnerable to others energy than we are aware of.

a sensitivity implies a fragility or a weakness whereas, attuned implies a strong awareness of.

ya see, new age spirituality has a habit of playing on ego & emotion that promotes this sense of being ✨ special ✨ that actually can keep us trapped in the upper chakras.

& this attachment to the title of being ‘sensitive’ is part of that dissonance— a surface-level construct that new age spirituality loves to sell. it keeps us in our heads, feeling ~ unique & misunderstood ~ instead of grounded into our intuition, that is evermore deeper and empowering.

so next time you’re gearing up to do something you technically like doing, like going to a concert or a fair or whatever, instead of getting all out of sorts to go in a crowd & proclaiming your sensitivity to others energy before you even get there… remember that you’re actually 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒆𝒅 to the energies around you & that you have a level of control over what you will & will not allow to permeate your energetic boundaries.

add to this practice by using somatic tools to better establish these boundaries.

if you would’ve asked me 5 years ago if I could absorb someone else pain or energy, I think I woulda said no.

but! after doing thousands of massages, I have to say it’s a resounding yes.

I was working on an older woman’s knees, then would come home in tears because mine hurt so badly.

or I would relieve someone’s migraine only to find myself with one.

I wasn’t practicing energetic hygiene simply because I wasn’t taking it seriously enough.

I started praying before each massage.

I started using the time to wash my hands before and after each session as a way of clearing my energy.

I stretch my arms from my feet to over my head as I imagine a bubble of white light to protect my energetic bodies.

I do this because I don’t want to feel sensitive to others energies while working.

I want to feel attuned.

& I want that for you, too, friend!
